Jeanette grew up in Calexico, California near the border to Baja California, MX. Both of her parents were born in Mexicali Baja California. At a young age Jeanette was fascinated by music and would sing and dance along her parents favorite music. She began to dance folklorico at the age of 5 and sing in her church choir. At the age of 15 her younger sister, who played violin began to teach Jeanette, guitar. As active members of their community, Jeanette and her sister began to play with a youth mariachi in her hometown until the age of 18. Jeanette is the first to perform Mariachi music in her family. Graduating high school; she relocated to Riverside to focus on her studies at the University of California Riverside and graduated with her Bachelors degree in Political Science and Law and Society in 2010. She joined an all female group as a guitarist at the end of her college career and later auditioned for Mariachi Reyna on vihuela. Jeanette enjoys performing and learning with Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles and loves embracing her Mexican heritage.
